What is the Walmart Class Action About?

The Walmart Class Action alleges that Walmart allowed customers to purchase weighted goods and bagged citrus for more than the lowest in-store advertised price. The lawsuit claims that Walmart’s point-of-sale systems artificially raised the weight of discounted “Weighted Goods” and misrepresented the weight of “Bagged Citrus,” causing customers to pay more than advertised.

Am I eligible to get a payout in the Walmart Class Action?

Eligible class members include anyone who purchased weighted goods and bagged citrus in-person at a Walmart store in the United States or Puerto Rico from October 19, 2018, through January 19, 2024. “Weighted goods” are defined as variable-weight meat, poultry, pork, and seafood products, while “bagged citrus” refers to organic oranges, grapefruit, tangerines, and navel oranges sold in bulk in mesh or plastic bags.

Is Proof of Purchase Required in Order to File A Claim?

No proof of purchase is required to file a claim. Claimants without a receipt can attest to purchasing a certain amount of products for a set payment amount. However, approved claimants with receipts or proof of purchase are entitled to receive 2% of the total cost of the substantiated weighted goods and bagged citrus products purchased, up to a cap of $500.

How Much Money Can I Get?

The potential award varies. Claimants without receipts can receive payments ranging from $10 to $25, based on the number of products they attest to purchasing. Those with receipts can receive 2% of the total cost of their substantiated purchases, up to a cap of $500. If the total claims exceed the settlement fund, payments may be decreased proportionately.
